This is exactly what I needed to hear today! I gained my doctorate at 40 at the end of 10 years retraining to become a psychologist after my dream career as a filmmaker stalled. I don't feel like I am fulfilling my potential yet and often feel like time is running out. I'm a chronic over thinker and need long stretches of idleness to daydream, plot and plan - things that are difficult to do while raising kids. As they leave the nest I'm hoping that my gifts will surface and I can direct them as I choose, rather than considering everyone else's needs first. Thank you for this

I LOVE reading your comment. It sounds vaguely familiar...but I suppose overthinking is part of "late" bloomers, We need time to process it all and figure it all out. It sounds to me that you are well on your way. Congrats on your doctorate, that is a great achievement. There's no stopping you now!
